Lost in the Namib desert at midday, unsure where North and South lie. Excerpt from the book: “FC now strode onwards. He suddenly realized he had lost his direction. It was true midday and the sun seemed dead vertical above them. His shadow did not spread beyond the boots he stood in. He could not spot a single land feature, nor any horizon feature indicating where they had come from, nor to where they should be heading. He was already out of sight of the lonely German soldier grave. For another time in his life, FC again felt his demise was a certainty, and much worse, that of his son too. No one would know where they were. His wife would simply notice after 3 to 6-months’ time that she had received no communications. Maybe some explorer in a 100-years might be lucky to find his and his son’s flakey bone fragments. FC could not even spot where they had walked up to this point. Their boots left no imprints on the hard gravel ground. They could not even track back the way they had come. They only had enough water on them to last 24 more hours. He was momentarily terror-stricken, and he swiftly realized he had to be hard thinking.”  Read the book, “I am The Rifle, and I kill” - available on Amazon (Click).
